About the Press

Artsürem Publishing is an independent academic press publishing peer-reviewed monographs, edited volumes and high-quality journals in linguistics, psychology and the social sciences. Our books are published open access in clearly defined series after double-anonymised peer review.

Series

The publishing programme consists of two peer-reviewed series, each with its own scope and subject editors:

  • Contemporary Linguistics Series: theoretical and applied linguistics, sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, language documentation, contact linguistics, and cognitive and functional linguistics.
  • Psychology and Social Sciences Series: clinical, developmental, cognitive and educational psychology; media and communication studies; and interdisciplinary social research with a strong theoretical and methodological framework.

The press also provides publishing services for the peer-reviewed journals on the Artsürem Journals Platform.

Review and publication ethics

Every submission is first assessed by the editors and then reviewed by at least two external experts in the field under double-anonymised peer review. The press makes the publication decision on the basis of the review reports and the recommendation of the relevant editorial board. Our ethical practice follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Editorial boards

The editor-in-chief and the series editors are listed on the Editorial Masthead page.

Editorial Board

The Editorial Board consists of scholars with expertise in the main disciplines and languages of the press. Board members assess submissions that pass the initial screening, recommend independent external reviewers, evaluate reviewers’ reports and make publication recommendations on the basis of scholarly quality, originality and relevance to the series.

International Advisory Board

The International Advisory Board supports the strategic direction of the press: editorial policy, open-access visibility, multilingual publishing and international academic standards. The board is also consulted when reviewers’ reports diverge sharply and on complex ethical questions.

Board members are selected for their scholarly expertise, publication record and editorial experience; the composition of the boards is reviewed periodically. Editors, board members and reviewers do not handle manuscripts in which a conflict of interest may arise; such manuscripts are reassigned to another qualified editor or reviewer.
